Angels in the Barn

By Joan Wester Anderson

The after-Christmas snowstorm had blanketed a wide patch of rural eastern Pennsylvania, and Chris Clark Davidson probably should have waited until the roads were plowed before she, her mother and her two small sons attempted a drive. But Chris’ grandmother lived alone more than 100 miles away and couldn’t get out to the store to buy groceries. “We’ll be fine,” Chris assured her mother. “We’ll take that shortcut that we use all summer.”

However, Chris had forgotten how narrow the short-cut road was, especially with drifts piled high and wind blowing snow across the fields. When another vehicle roared around a curve. Chris swerved and skidded into a snow bank. The other car kept going.

The wheels spun uselessly as she tried to pull out. “Mommy, are we stuck?” toddler Philip asked from under his blanket in the back seat.

“Looks that way, honey,” Chris admitted. They had only seen that one car since they’d turned onto the shortcut. How long would it be before someone came along? How long before the freezing temperature invaded the car’s interior? And why, oh why, had she worn stylish open shoes instead of warm boots?

Chris got out, her almost-bare feet plunging into a high drift, and looked around. Lord please send us some help, she prayed. Then she saw it—a silo and barn roof about a quarter-mile away. “Mom,” Chris leaned in the car, “I’ll walk down to that barn and see if anyone’s there. Keep the kids warm.” Her mother nodded, her face worried.

The journey was incredibly cold and by the time Chris pushed open the barn door, her feet were icy. A welcome blast of heat greeted her, along with the mooing of heifers in their stalls. It was a working dairy, clean and well organized, with a shiny window fan circulating the air. Although she had passed it during previous times on the short cut, she had never really taken a good look. Now, she realized with joy, there were young male voices coming from behind a stall.

Maneuvering around the livestock, Chris followed the sound and came upon two farmhands in overalls and flannel shirts, kidding and teasing each other as they pitched hay. They stopped and smiled when they saw her, and quickly she explained the situation.

“Stay here!” one said, tramping past the cows, grabbing his jacket and going out the door. A moment later, Chris heard a horn honking in front of the barn. There he was, driving a blue pickup truck. “Get in!” he shouted.

Chris hesitated. She didn’t know these men, and her family, down the road, was vulnerable. Yet, there was something so merry about the men that she couldn’t feel afraid. She and the other farmhand scrambled into the pickup and bounced down the road. There was the car, her toddlers bundled up and Mom waving. The driver roared across the field, spun in a wide circle and screeched into position behind it. “Way to go!” his buddy yelled.

Chris gripped the seat. “Do you always drive like this?” she asked, only half-joking.

The driver shrugged. “Well, it ain’t our truck.”

Within minutes the men had freed Chris’ car, and she opened her purse to reward them. But both backed away. “It was our pleasure, Ma’am. Just drive safely.”

Not like you, Chris grinned as she pulled away. But their happiness was infectious, and they were wonderful guys.

Chris didn’t realize just how wonderful until several weeks later when she and her mother decided to make a return visit to her grandmother. Since the snow was almost gone by then, the shortcut was safer. “When we get to the barn, I’d like to stop and let the guys know we made it to Grandma’s that day,” Chris told her mother. But when they pulled up in front to where Chris had climbed into the blue truck, she could hardly believe her eyes.

The barn was vacant, shabby, with paint peeling and door hinges hanging loose. Bewildered, Chris wiped away a heavy film of dirt and cobwebs on the milk house window and peered inside. Where were the heifers, the floor littered with fresh manure? Even the fan was rusty.

“You couldn’t have seen any farmhands or cattle there,” the woman at the next house told Chris. “No one’s worked that property for years.”

Chris got in the car. “Am I crazy, Mom?” she asked, bewildered.

“No.” Her mother was firm. “This is definitely the place.”

Then how….?  Suddenly Chris understood, and like the shepherds at that first Christmas, she was filled with awe. Her angels had worn blue jeans and flannel shirts instead of white robes. But they had delivered the same timeless message to her and to anyone willing to listen. Fear not! The Savior is here! Alleluia!

What does the bible say about angels?  Hebrews 13:2 states, "Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels."

Throughout scripture we read about God sending his angelic servants to rescue those in time of need.  One of the most interesting stories of God's angelic protection is found in Acts 12:6-11.

On the very night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter, secured by double chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while outside the door guards kept watch on the prison.  Suddenly the angel of the Lord stood by him and a light shone in the cell.  He tapped Peter on the side and awakened him saying, "Get up quickly."  The chains fell from his wrists.  The angel said to him, "Put on your belt and your sandels"  He did so.  Then he said to him, "Put on your cloak and follow me."  So he followed him out, not realizing that what was happening through the angel was real; he thought he was seeing a vision.  They passed the first guard, then the second, and came to the iron gate leading out to the city, which opened for them by itself.  They emerged and made their way down an alley, and suddenly the angel left him.  Then Peter recovered his senses and said, "Now I know for certain that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people had been expecting."

God is awesome and will provide assistance in time of difficulty through his angels.  Prayer is of course essential in order to receive God's divine help.  Please read my own personal testimony (Loci B. Lenar) regarding the matter in which my family has received aid from Michael the Archangel by visiting the following link: Miraculous Signs of Angels

The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven

The Feast of the Ascension is celebrated on May 25th - forty days after Easter.

During 2017 Pray for God's Mercy and Intervention

By Loci B. Lenar

Our Lord Jesus communicated through a locution on December 31, 2015 to "pray for divine favor and mercy"  and to "believe in the power of prayer."  This locution was again affirmed by Jesus on April 25, 2017 and continues to hold true this year.

Pray for Our Lord's divine intervention to answer all your prayers. Pray for Our Lady's Intercession by reciting the Novena for Impossible Requests. Also pray for Saint Jude or Saint Rita to intercede on your behalf. Both saints are invoked for impossible causes or if you're deprived of visible help. Also consider reciting the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, it was composed by St. Faustina in response to visions she had from Jesus Christ, who revealed Himself as the Divine Mercy.  For other prayers that can be used in time of need, please click on the following link: Devotional Prayers

"What is impossible with man is possible with God."  Luke 18:27

In order for prayer to be effective, please forgive those that have sinned against you, no matter how difficult it may seem. Anger toward others creates a barrier in receiving all of God's blessings and grace. Pray to have any anger in your heart replaced with love.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”  Mark 11:24-25

Furthermore, many nations have lost their direction by ignoring the gospels and teachings of Christianity. Please join in prayer for God to intervene and bring change to our world. May God open the hearts of people to receive the Holy Spirit.

Pray for the course of history to be changed into a glorious era of peace!

Pray for the fulfillment of Revelation 20:1-3 in order to usher in God's reign of peace and to bring an end to wars, violence, lawlessness and persecution of the faithful. Pray to Our Lady of Fatima for an era of peace to unfold and to protect you from all adversity. Pray for God's protection in your families through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel. Pray for God's peace to reign on earth.

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."  ( John 3:17)

Pray to God to intervene in your families and marriages for healing and reconciliation. Pray for an improvement and restoration of your finances. Pray for healing of medical conditions and recovery of health.

Finally, pray to God with an open heart to receive an answer to your prayer and expect His divine assistance. Moreover, it's important to try and be faithful in order for Our Lord to change circumstances into your favor.

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."  (Hebrews 4:16)

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."  (1Thessalonians 5:18)

"May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."  (Psalm 20:4)

Invoke the help of Angels

"Make friends with the angels, who, though invisible, are always with you. ... Often invoke them, constantly praise them, and make good use of their help and assistance in all your temporal and spiritual affairs." So encouraged St. Francis de Sales.

Message from Jesus: "Pray for Divine Protection"

Through a spiritual locution Loci B. Lenar received on September 14, 2009, Jesus called for everyone to "pray for divine protection."   The locution from Jesus was a result of Mr. Lenar's visit to the Church of Saint Michael in Netcong, New Jersey.

In June of 2010, Jesus again reminded Mr. Lenar of the importance of the message.  After prayerful discernment, Mr. Lenar said, "The Lord's plan is to mitigate and extinguish violence throughout the world in order to usher in an era of peace."

Prayer to Mitigate Natural Disasters

The Sacred Heart

God the Father, we join together in prayer and petition heaven for divine intervention to mitigate earthquakes and natural disasters throughout the world.

We invoke the powerful name of Jesus to calm the storms of time and to bring forth a millennium of peace and tranquility.

We pray to the Virgin Mary to interecede on behalf of Humanity for God's hand of mercy to bless us with divine protection.

We ask this and thank thee in the name of Jesus. Amen

I wrote the prayer in 2010 as a result of the earthquake in Haiti.

The Lord inspired me to compose a prayer in order to petition God to mitigate earthquakes and disasters while I was praying for the victims and families of Haiti.

Please join in by reciting the prayer daily.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful prayer support.

Angelic Tails: True Stories of Heavenly Canine Companions

This new book is by author Joan Wester Anderson, renown for writing books on angelic visitations and miracles.

The following excerpt is from Loyola Press: Angelic Tails is a collection of down-to-earth true stories from ordinary people who believe that God has graced their lives through heavenly canine companions. Each of the 30 stories challenges readers to reconsider their conception of angels—from the story of a former Air Force colonel whose golden retrievers served as his heavenly helpers in the Colorado wilderness to the account of St. John Bosco, who, for more than 30 years, was protected by an angelic dog as he walked the dangerous city streets. In the end, for all who see through the eyes of faith, this book is evidence that God can use even muddy paws and cold noses to fulfill his purposes in our world.

Miraculous Photo: Shield of Archangel Michael

In August of 2005, a Cross of Light appeared for the first time on Mr. Lenar's backyard fence in Mine Hill, New Jersey, USA.  The same bright cross has subsequently appeared every year from 2005 to 2013 during Lent and Holy Week. Loci Lenar says that Fr. Richard Tartaglia has confirmed this phenonmena by visiting his home several times and photographing the sign in 2012 and 2013.

Fr. Tartaglia spoke about this sign in his Homily during a prayer service held at St. Mary's Church, Denville, NJ. For more details on this story, please visit the Homepage on this site. Signs of Archangel Michael

By Loci B. Lenar

While traveling through the town of Netcong, located in Morris County, NJ, I stopped into The Church of St. Michael to say some prayers and snapped photographs of the beautiful display of stained glass windows and statues.  Remarkably, the image of Archangel Michael shows a colorful rainbow that appeared while photographing the statue. To read the inspirational story and to view the photograph, please visit Miraculous Signs of Archangel Michael.

Where Miracles Happen
